The majority of Italian people is convinced that it is necessary to develop a sustainable economic model based on new energy sources and models in order to create new jobs, and is ready to support it both through small actions and purchasing behaviour. Also, the results arising from the Research “Environmental scenarios and behaviours of Italian people” conducted by SWG on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and presented during the last Forum of Public Administration affirm it. In order to improve environmental sustainability through the reduction in energy consumption, 74% of Italians is willing to renovate their houses from an environmental point of view, while 71% has highlighted that the presence of double-glazed windows is the most important element that can improve the level of energy efficiency of houses and influence the purchase decision. This aspect is also supported by the fact that 65% of the sample has already replaced old windows, 15% has the intention to do it and 17% has the intention but not the economic opportunity. We have also to highlight that the energy produced from waste is among the alternative energy sources that has been mentioned by the majority of the sample (41%).
